PrivacyPolicy

Four Words Backwards is a small speaking game built by one person. This page explains what data the app and website collect, what they don't, and what you can do about it. In plain language, no theatre.

What we collect

If you join the beta on this website, we store the email address you submit. That's it. We don't ask for your name, your age, or anything else.

The iOS app does not collect personal information. It doesn't require an account, and it doesn't ask you to sign in.

What we don't collect

Your recordings stay on your device. Audio and video captured by the iOS app are processed locally using Apple's AVFoundation framework. Nothing is uploaded to a server, shared with third parties, or used to train any model.

We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any other personal data beyond the email address you choose to give us. There are no advertising networks, no third-party trackers, and no behavioural profiling.

Why we collect your email

If you sign up for the beta, we use your email to let you know when access opens and to send a small number of related updates about the launch. We won't sell, rent, or share it.

How it's stored

Beta signup emails are stored in a Supabase database hosted in the United States. Access is limited to the developer.

Third parties

The site and app rely on a small set of service providers:

  • Supabase — stores beta signup emails.
  • Cloudflare — hosts the website and handles standard request logging used for security and reliability.
  • Apple — distributes the iOS app through TestFlight and the App Store, and provides Apple's default, aggregated App Store analytics. We don't add any analytics SDKs on top of that.
  • Vercel Analytics — this website includes Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics script, which records aggregated, anonymous page view counts. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across sites.

That's the full list. No advertising networks, no third-party tracking SDKs, no session replay, no fingerprinting.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your email from the beta list at any time. Send a note to olleh@fourwords.app and we'll remove it.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and especially not from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted an email to the beta list, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. There's no separate changelog — the date is the changelog.

Questions about this policy, or about how your data is handled, can go to olleh@fourwords.app.
